This article contains installation instructions and firmware files for the Avocor E50 series interactive displays.
Compatible models: AVE-5550, AVE-6550, AVE-7550, AVE-8650
Checking your firmware version:
- Press the settings button
on the UiQ Home screen, the front panel keypad on the display, or on the remote control
- Once the settings menu appears, tap the About tile, and Firmware Version will be displayed.
Over-the-air (OTA) update:
Required items
- Connect the display to the network via:
- Ethernet/CAT5 (preferred)
- USB WiFi module
Instructions:
- When a new firmware is available on our OTA server, the file will automatically download and install in the background. A progress indicator will be visible from the Home screen.
Note: Users on firmware version 1.1.36 or older may encounter the progress bar pausing part-way through the update. If this occurs, please wait 30 minutes and then toggle the A/C switch off and on again. The update will finalize during system boot-up.
- Once the download is complete, you may see a notification. Tap the Reboot button.
Note: Do not power off the display until the update is complete.
- Confirm the update is complete by checking the firmware version in the settings menu.
USB Update:
This process applies to the aml_upgrade_package.img file type.
Required items:
- FAT32 formatted USB drive
Instructions:
- Download the firmware from the Firmware Download section at the bottom of the article.

Download the file onto the root directory of your USB drive.
- Plug the USB drive into the USB Service Port located side I/O of the display.
- Open the Settings menu then select About > USB Update.
- Once a compatible USB and firmware has been detected, the Insert USB button will highlight and change to Apply Update.

Select Apply Update to begin installing the firmware.
Note: Do not power off the display until the update is complete.

After the display reboots, there may be a notification at the top of the screen that firmware updates are being performed

In some cases, a USB firmware update may result in issues with re-registering with Fuse. If this occurs, please follow the steps below:
Situation A) If the device has previously been claimed the device in your organization's Fuse tenant, simply navigate to the device page and delete the device. Next, claim the device in Fuse.
Situation B) If the device is not claimed in your organization's Fuse tenant, but you are experiencing issues with Fuse registration or claiming, please contact Avocor Support with your device serial number and we will resolve the issue:
